Welcome

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One is doing a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study of a 2.2-mile segment of County Road (CR) 769 (Kings Highway) from South Kingsway Circle to Peace River Street in DeSoto County. The project limits are shown on the location map below. The study evaluates widening the two-lane road to a four-lane divided highway to handle future expected traffic.

In 2014, the study team completed a feasibility study and a project traffic study documenting the need to widen CR 769 to four lanes. FDOT will develop roadway widening alternatives, environmental assessments and cost estimates that we will present to the public at an alternatives public meeting.

Click on the various pages of this website for information about the PD&E study process, future public involvement meetings, the project schedule and information on how to contact FDOT's project manager.
